Powered Musings

As I was driving down for work Yesterday, I was listening to Radio Mirchi – The question of the day was - How can we imagine that there is power even when there is no power supply!!!

Frankly I never gave it a thought then.

Today once again on my way to work, I saw a few feet in front of me a truck loaded with plantain leaves and a boy in standing position leaning against it and fast asleep!!!!!!! I was scared that he would fall off but he was dead to the world and totally oblivious to the danger that he was putting himself to. Tiredness knows no comforts!!!

Everyday as I sit in my cabin and start to feel the heat of the day, my immediate reaction is to switch on the AC.

Quite often I indulge in long discussions on the various environmental hazards, I speak with such intensity that anyone listening to me would never doubt my sincerity on that issue. But then how do I justify this impulsive reaction of switching on the AC?

Do we practice what we preach or …….. ?

I can only say I have become a super slave to comforts in life.

Last night is a perfect example. We had a power cut for almost four hours. The minute I returned home around 9 pm till almost 1 am. We were restless. We cribbed and cribbed for a while before dozing off. And I even told my daughter to be a little away from me as it was too hot. I don’t exactly remember when we fell asleep but we were later awakened by the soft humming of the AC. (which is the best piece of music during summer)It was only then that I snuggled closer to my daughter and snored away to glory.

Going back to the question on Radio mirchi – could anyone imagine that there is power without power?

Yup!!!!!! There are millions in this world who live their lives without access to power supply. Though there is a popular saying in telugu which goes - True hunger knows no taste and Real sleep knows no comfort, it does not give us the right to deprive a large chunk of humanity the basic needs!!!!

Most of us are all the time making a lot of powered talk without meaning a word of it!!!!

I wish we all change and do something about everything that is going wrong with this world.

Is it only wishful thinking or am I going to do something about it!!

Time…. I need time.

Energy… Yes I need that in plenty

Resources…. I think I can manage well.

Initiative….. Once I begin, I think I have it in plenty but starting……………….

I have spent more than a decade thinking I should do something significant for the society. Psssssss….
