Women Power!!
I am very proud of being a woman!! I feel special and privileged !! I have always believed that women have always contributed positively to the progress of the society!! Well, being a strong believer in the power of women, I might not have personally made a remarkable difference to the society that I live in but know for sure that I have made a constructive difference in the lives of quite a few !!
I am especially proud to be part of a family where women have played a major role in the growth of their family into a dynamic and progressive one with the Hindu dharmic values deeply embedded!!
Its more than a year since my granny passed away! Anyone who has come into close contact with her is only astonished by her determination, confidence, dedication!!
A tough lady but very effiecient. She did not spare even her daughter, to the extent that she would constantly disapprove of her ways of executing a task! But mind you it would always be objective criticism based on the highest quality standards set for each task!! Every work executed had to necessarily include components like Perfection, methodology( a step by step process) and hygiene/cleanliness!! She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and curiosity to explore anything new to the point of exasperating the one who is being sought for the information!! Her love for animals, her generous appreciation of total strangers and her aquaintances, her genuine concern for the well being of maids at home and the maids of her neighbours - all these make her a very special lady!! She was an voracious reader of all kinds of literature!! She loved music and learnt a few krithis on her own just by listening to the gramaphone records!! The list of her accomplishments and skill sets is almost endless!! All in all she was versatile!!
My granny is not my only inspiration!! As I said earlier to me my granny is only the beginning point of this growing women power in my family and in my society!! There are so many women in my family who stand as a perfect definition for womanhood!! My mother, my paternal aunt, my maternal uncle's wife, my sisters, my sisters in law and my niece!!
Apart from my family, I have come across scores of women who are remarkable and outstanding!!
To me everysecond is a celebration of womanhood when either in our immediate surrounding or in a distant land we hear of remarkable stories of sacrifices, patience, tolerance, wit, skill, determination and pure unsullied love for children and the other family members exhibited by women across all strata of the society!! This in spite of all the opposition, non support and non co operation movements coupled with exploitation of her emotions and violation of her dignity every second!!

phew strong statements being made...seems either you are getting lot of free time to keep on writing blogs or venting your anger on something...nice reading...but at times scary too...try listening to the song "strength of a woman" by shaggy..m sure u ll get hooked to it...
ReplyDeleteI feel flattered by the mention(if it is me :D; naah.. just being modest!!).Though I still don't see y ur granny had to say anything about mine, because my granny has all the above mentioned qualities generously mixed with copious amounts of love and affection!!

ReplyDeleteHmmm! You are right!! It was posted before women's day!! Yeah we all have every reason to be proud!! We are versatile, and capable of multi tasking which makes us the best creation of God!!
