A nectar that managed to sting my heart!!

Cherubic, simply magical, with an almost unbelievable ethereal look about it!! That was my baby (Atleast that is what I thought!!) when I first saw it sitting all by itself!! As always I observed for a reasonable length of time before I gingerly made my way towards that bundle of joy wishing to make it all mine!! That magical baby at first cast a few carefully measured glances, followed by a smile now and then. This encouraged me to narrow the distance between the two of us and I soon started caring for it deeply! I was soon an essential part of the adorable one's life - laughing with it when it was in bliss and crying with it in its pain!! This nectarine experience wasnt to last forever!! The nectarine experience was so intoxicating that it stung my heart mighty painfully!! The pain woke me up from my deep slumber!! I realized I had had a painful dream but neverthless a dream that left me happy that I had seen the most beautiful baby!! And the lesson I had learnt_ What is not you...

Women Power!!

I am very proud of being a woman !! I feel special and privileged !! I have always believed that women have always contributed positively to the progress of the society!! Well, being a strong believer in the power of women, I might not have personally made a remarkable difference to the society that I live in but know for sure that I have made a constructive difference in the lives of quite a few !! I am especially proud to be part of a family where women have played a major role in the growth of their family into a dynamic and progressive one with the Hindu dharmic values deeply embedded!! Its more than a year since my granny passed away! Anyone who has come into close contact with her is only astonished by her determination, confidence, dedication!! A tough lady but very effiecient. She did not spare even her daughter, to the extent that she would constantly disapprove of her ways of executing a task! But mind you it would always be objective criticism based on the highest quality...

A giant refreshment called Aparna

Fresh, zestful, lively, sharp, poignant, peppery, spirited, stimulating...... The list can go on endlessly.. These are just a few words I have used in describing a giant refreshment called Aparna!! Wondering if you have ever had an exotic drink of this kind!!! No way!!! Its a seasonal refreshment and gulped in gallons only by its patents!! (Parents?)and occasionally by those whose organic structure is a close match to it!! Most refreshing in the months of April and May but available for a short span in the winter for the patents alone!! A tester dose of what the summer holds!! I have just had a taste of it (being a patent) and enjoyed it for almost a fortnight!! It has only left me with a longing for more and more!! But its gonna be one long wait till I get to taste it in its best form!! Thats my daughter in the hostel!!

Nature - Untamed

It has been almost two months since I have added a new post!!Just a nagging feeling somewhere in an inaccessible corner of mind that life has become monotonous!!!! But I am sure it is a feeling which needs to be evacuated from wherever it is like all feelings tenuous!! My work takes me a 100kms up and down!! If anyone is concerned about the long travel everyday!! Oops!! Noooo!! Not to worry!! The receent days with the monsoon in full swing, have been a pleasure for those of us taking the long drive to work!! The feeling is almost wordsworthian !!and the ride.... It is simply breath taking!! Every morning and evening as I drive up and down between my workplace and home, I drink by gallons the untamed beauty of Nature in the countryside. I call it untamed because it is sans the precision and the tamed beauty of Nature as seen in resorts, tourist spots!! It's Nature!! and it is "original"!! There are not many hills though! The sight which unfolds infront of my eyes everymor...

What I fear the most in life

Nastiness is what I fear the most in life!!! It has the power to strip people of their dignity!! There is a lean line of demarcation between rudeness and nastiness. Which is worse? No idea!!!!!! I feel terrorized by both!! What makes people adapt themselves to these two as a way of life? Is it hunger for power!! Is it ignorance!! In recent times I have noticed a vertical swell in the number of people who have their feet stuck in nastiness. The Andhra Pradesh assembly was a witness to this (nastiness)and more on the 10th of June and that too from the Chief Minister himself. He isn’t an illiterate like some of the politicians, he is a professional doctor!!!! So what should we attribute his unprovoked nastiness to? He seemed drunk with power and instead of being civil to his political opponents; he chose to be downright nasty!!! He surely would have won more hearts if he had a firm grip on his tongue!! A few days ago as we were busy packing and shifting to a new campus, One of my colleagu...

Broken rules

Around 9 pm on Friday, I was returning home after visiting my sister. At the first signal intersection near my sister’s house, it showed red but those of you staying at Hyderabad you must be well aware that signals are part of the road show!! I being a typical Hyderabaddy jumped the signals as I thought it was late in the night and the general belief is oof!! Not to bother!! But it wasn’t one of those lucky days for me. The cop stopped me and wonderful I couldn’t hear a word of what he was saying!!!!!! I had my windows up!!! A few minutes later after all the cursing he instructed me to pull to a side but lo!!!!!! What do you think I did? I whizzed past him, in no time on my way home!!! Even as I was nearing home I started feeling sheepish!! I started questioning myself and initially my conscience came up with all kinds of justifications but none really valid. I just happen to have finished reading the book ‘Freakonomics’ by Steven D. Levitt. In the fourth chapter titled- ‘Where have al...

Powered Musings

As I was driving down for work Yesterday, I was listening to Radio Mirchi – The question of the day was - How can we imagine that there is power even when there is no power supply!!! Frankly I never gave it a thought then. Today once again on my way to work, I saw a few feet in front of me a truck loaded with plantain leaves and a boy in standing position leaning against it and fast asleep!!!!!!! I was scared that he would fall off but he was dead to the world and totally oblivious to the danger that he was putting himself to. Tiredness knows no comforts!!! Everyday as I sit in my cabin and start to feel the heat of the day, my immediate reaction is to switch on the AC. Quite often I indulge in long discussions on the various environmental hazards, I speak with such intensity that anyone listening to me would never doubt my sincerity on that issue. But then how do I justify this impulsive reaction of switching on the AC? Do we practice what we preach or …….. ? I can only say I have be...

The Fabulous Fibbers

I have come across several people speaking implausible things. I somehow think they are not normal!!!!!!!! Sane!!!! Or should I say Kudos to their creative ability!!!! The latest fabulous fibber has been someone I meet everyday. A super napper!!! Sleeping all the time! When is it is an easy give away that he has been sleeping, then he comes up with the most ingenious excuses!!!!!!!!!! The most unforgettable one has been that he managed to assemble an LCD TV in *** hours!!!!!!!! And the best part – I believed him!! It was one of those routine days and Mr. Fabulous Fibber (henceforth to be referred to as Mr. FF) walked out of his cabin looking almost drunk, eyes red and dazed. I simply couldn’t resist asking him if he had slept and got up. Poor man had no way to escape and so went on to tell me how he had slept very late the previous night as he had assembled a TV!! – That was okay but the worst was yet to come. I asked Mr. FF how much it had cost him to assemble a TV at home. He replied...

Mischief can be more potent than botox

It amuses me infinitely when I hear people's perception of me as a somber, dignified and a no nonsense person. Well I am a no nonsense person, I am dignified too but a somber person!!!!!!! You should actually ask my school teachers – Wonder what their reaction would be if they ever got to know that I am into teaching!!! Hmmmmmmmm………….. My school days, were fun filled…. No I think mischief filled!!!!!!!!!!! So what’s new about it? Not much except for the time – more than twenty five years ago My gender – a girl!!!!!! My background – a potent combo of being the daughter of a renowned professor!!!!!!!!!! and belonging to a traditional family. We were a bunch of eight girls, very close and very impish – our activities ranged from ragging to bunking classes to total indiscipline in every matter concerning student life. We managed to do all this without making anyone suspicious and if at all we ever got caught into trouble we coped well and ensured it did not go to the notice of our pare...

I, Me, Myself

This is my first attempt at blogging - an inspiration of countless blogs. So I intend to dedicate it to myself and there by allow all my blog followers a peep into “what I truly am”. A couple of months ago there were innumerable problems faced by me at my work place and like anybody else would, I was initially upset. One fine day I came upon a familiar quote - The quote said “People may love me or people may hate me but nobody can ignore me”. How true!!!!!!!! But lo!!!!! I was seeing it in new light!!! Very recently I happened to be watching “Boston Legal” on star world where a lawyer says that we have to have people talking about us all the time. It made me think and soon I could hear the ring of truth in that statement. Now, now how I gloat nowadays thinking of how I manage to be the subject of discussion wherever I go!!!!!!!!. Because even for people to discuss you, you need to be doing something all the time, working all the time and it means we are energetic people, that people f...
