Broken rules

Around 9 pm on Friday, I was returning home after visiting my sister. At the first signal intersection near my sister’s house, it showed red but those of you staying at Hyderabad you must be well aware that signals are part of the road show!! I being a typical Hyderabaddy jumped the signals as I thought it was late in the night and the general belief is oof!! Not to bother!! But it wasn’t one of those lucky days for me. The cop stopped me and wonderful I couldn’t hear a word of what he was saying!!!!!! I had my windows up!!! A few minutes later after all the cursing he instructed me to pull to a side but lo!!!!!! What do you think I did? I whizzed past him, in no time on my way home!!! Even as I was nearing home I started feeling sheepish!! I started questioning myself and initially my conscience came up with all kinds of justifications but none really valid. I just happen to have finished reading the book ‘Freakonomics’ by Steven D. Levitt. In the fourth chapter titled- ‘Where have al...

Powered Musings

As I was driving down for work Yesterday, I was listening to Radio Mirchi – The question of the day was - How can we imagine that there is power even when there is no power supply!!! Frankly I never gave it a thought then. Today once again on my way to work, I saw a few feet in front of me a truck loaded with plantain leaves and a boy in standing position leaning against it and fast asleep!!!!!!! I was scared that he would fall off but he was dead to the world and totally oblivious to the danger that he was putting himself to. Tiredness knows no comforts!!! Everyday as I sit in my cabin and start to feel the heat of the day, my immediate reaction is to switch on the AC. Quite often I indulge in long discussions on the various environmental hazards, I speak with such intensity that anyone listening to me would never doubt my sincerity on that issue. But then how do I justify this impulsive reaction of switching on the AC? Do we practice what we preach or …….. ? I can only say I have be...

The Fabulous Fibbers

I have come across several people speaking implausible things. I somehow think they are not normal!!!!!!!! Sane!!!! Or should I say Kudos to their creative ability!!!! The latest fabulous fibber has been someone I meet everyday. A super napper!!! Sleeping all the time! When is it is an easy give away that he has been sleeping, then he comes up with the most ingenious excuses!!!!!!!!!! The most unforgettable one has been that he managed to assemble an LCD TV in *** hours!!!!!!!! And the best part – I believed him!! It was one of those routine days and Mr. Fabulous Fibber (henceforth to be referred to as Mr. FF) walked out of his cabin looking almost drunk, eyes red and dazed. I simply couldn’t resist asking him if he had slept and got up. Poor man had no way to escape and so went on to tell me how he had slept very late the previous night as he had assembled a TV!! – That was okay but the worst was yet to come. I asked Mr. FF how much it had cost him to assemble a TV at home. He replied...

Mischief can be more potent than botox

It amuses me infinitely when I hear people's perception of me as a somber, dignified and a no nonsense person. Well I am a no nonsense person, I am dignified too but a somber person!!!!!!! You should actually ask my school teachers – Wonder what their reaction would be if they ever got to know that I am into teaching!!! Hmmmmmmmm………….. My school days, were fun filled…. No I think mischief filled!!!!!!!!!!! So what’s new about it? Not much except for the time – more than twenty five years ago My gender – a girl!!!!!! My background – a potent combo of being the daughter of a renowned professor!!!!!!!!!! and belonging to a traditional family. We were a bunch of eight girls, very close and very impish – our activities ranged from ragging to bunking classes to total indiscipline in every matter concerning student life. We managed to do all this without making anyone suspicious and if at all we ever got caught into trouble we coped well and ensured it did not go to the notice of our pare...

I, Me, Myself

This is my first attempt at blogging - an inspiration of countless blogs. So I intend to dedicate it to myself and there by allow all my blog followers a peep into “what I truly am”. A couple of months ago there were innumerable problems faced by me at my work place and like anybody else would, I was initially upset. One fine day I came upon a familiar quote - The quote said “People may love me or people may hate me but nobody can ignore me”. How true!!!!!!!! But lo!!!!! I was seeing it in new light!!! Very recently I happened to be watching “Boston Legal” on star world where a lawyer says that we have to have people talking about us all the time. It made me think and soon I could hear the ring of truth in that statement. Now, now how I gloat nowadays thinking of how I manage to be the subject of discussion wherever I go!!!!!!!!. Because even for people to discuss you, you need to be doing something all the time, working all the time and it means we are energetic people, that people f...
